New Mexico
Project Type: New Construction
Division: Commercial, Infrastructure
Service: Helical & Resistance Piers
In order to construct a solid foundation in silty alluvial sands below the water table in the Rio Grande valley, Straight Line installed a helical pier deep foundation to support bridge abutments for a new vehicle bridge at the Sandia Lakes Recreation Area at the Sandia Pueblo, north of Albuquerque.

At each abutment, 15 piers were installed and rebar tie-ins were welded as a cap on each pier.
Piers were 2-7/8in diameter, with 8in, 10in and 12in helices.
Triple helix specified to develop torque (and bearing capacity) more quickly in the soft, wet sands of the valley.
